2 internal doors were installed, closing off an open-plan classroom block, and a complete renovation of an outdoor building into an impressive secure storage unit. We knew we had made the right decision straight away when we signed a contract with Barratt and Canniford. We had originally signed up with a multi-national company, but we cancelled two weeks before the start date of the project due to lack of flexibility and not enough consideration in listening to our needs and requirements. From the outset Barratt and Canniford made themselves avaliable to us whenever we needed to discuss the project. They listened, advised where necessary and worked extremely hard to keep within budget and the strict time frame that was in place. They adhered to the budget and time frame amazingly and credit must go to them for having such a personable, strong leader with excellent communication skills with their team and ourselves. We met weekly, along with the rest of the project team, sometimes daily if the need arose or any issues cropped up. These were always resolved and kept the project moving forward without delay. They were able to advise and recommend local suppliers and tradesmen when needed; this in turn provided a reliable and trustworthy workforce. Barratt and Canniford liaised very closely with the Building Control and Planning Department at Mendip District Council, ensuring the project met proposals set. This showed Barratt and Canniford’s ability to work with professionals at all levels, on a one-to-one basis and in a team meeting environment. Not only did they build the hotel but they were instrumental in the design process of our unique and special VIP Witch’s Tower. Their design input was outstanding and we could not have achieved such a master-piece without them. One point I must make is that whenever i went on site the whole team were happy and helpful. I strongly believe this came from our constant, amicable working relationship and this reflected on everyone involved. Since the opening of the hotel we have had great feedback and comments from staying guests and passers-by to the hotel, it really is a talking point and a tremendous feature. We have been delighted to work with Barratt and Canniford on the building and construction of our new Wookey Hole and would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Your building, Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry and finishing were all to a very high standard. The Solar panels, underfloor heading and energy saving lighting are alll a great success. Their professional attitude towards health & Safety commences at Management level and flows throughout the whole workforce. As one of the leading motorhome dealers in the UK when we planned our new showroom we wanted to make sure it would set new standards in our industry. Having seen their work locally and knowing their reputation as a respected, professional company, we commissioned B&C to carry out the construction. We had a strong vision of what we wanted and B&C were happy for us to be involved in all stages of the project from initial design to final detailing, with their huge experience helping us to realise our wishes. Working within 5m of the south west’s busiest trunk road meant that good practice and Health & Safety was paramount, but the build was completed without incident, and our showroom is exactly what we envisaged.
